Mumbai Hotels Threatened with Terror Attack; Suspect Detained by Police

Mumbai, May 6: Panic ensued in Mumbai, the financial capital of India, after a threatening call was received regarding the Taj and Trident hotels. The caller claimed that a terrorist attack was imminent at both locations.

Immediately after the threat was reported, hotel management alerted the Mumbai police. In response, police and security agencies went into high alert. Security measures were intensified around both hotels, and surveillance was heightened. Bomb and dog squads were dispatched to conduct thorough investigations at the sites.

According to Mumbai police, the threat was taken seriously, prompting an immediate increase in security. A technical team was assigned to identify the caller. Acting swiftly, police traced the caller and detained him in the Sion area of Mumbai. Interrogation of the suspect is currently underway.

A police official revealed that the suspect made the threatening call while under the influence of alcohol. Preliminary investigations suggest that he was distressed due to personal issues, which led him to make the call. The suspect reportedly works in housekeeping, and inquiries are ongoing.

In a related incident on the same day, bomb threats were also emailed to the district collectorates in Baran and Bikaner, Rajasthan. Following the receipt of these threats, the buildings were evacuated, and security was heightened.

Authorities reported that the threatening email was received on Wednesday morning, warning of a bomb explosion at the collectorate. The email contained bizarre instructions, such as prohibiting entry to anyone wearing a red saree or red shirt. It also mentioned the use of human bombs and included misleading information.
