Indore, June 27: The Pune murder case has sparked discussions across the nation. In this context, Uma Raghuvanshi, the mother of the victim Raja Raghuvanshi, has called for stringent action against the accused, Siya Goyal. She drew parallels between her son’s murder and the recent incident in Pune, emphasizing the need for severe punishment for offenders in such cases.
Uma Raghuvanshi told a news agency that the Pune incident reminded her of her son’s tragic death. She stated, “Just as my son was murdered in a planned manner, Ketan Agarwal‘s murder in Pune was also premeditated.” According to her, both cases involve women accused of conspiring to kill their fiancés, making her relate deeply to the recent events.
She expressed, “I am still unable to overcome the pain of losing my son, so I can fully empathize with Ketan’s mother. Losing a son in such a manner is the greatest sorrow for any mother.”
Uma Raghuvanshi further remarked, “If a young woman does not wish to accept a marriage or engagement, she should clearly refuse. No one has the right to take another’s life. Families must prioritize their children’s wishes and not pressure them into relationships for the sake of social prestige.”
She also emphasized the need for expedited judicial processes against serious crime offenders. She argued that without strict and swift action in such cases, a wrong message would be sent, diminishing the fear of the law among criminals. Referring to her son’s case, she mentioned that she is still waiting for justice and urged Ketan Agarwal’s family to also seek justice.
Uma Raghuvanshi demanded that those found guilty of heinous crimes like murder should receive the harshest penalties. She appealed to parents to understand their children’s wishes before arranging marriages and to avoid making decisions without their consent, in order to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
