New Delhi, April 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Karmayogi Sadhana Week on Thursday, extending his best wishes for the event. He stated, “As we navigate the rapidly changing systems of the 21st century, it is essential for public services to continuously update in line with these changes. This event is a significant step in that direction.”

Modi emphasized the guiding principle of governance: “Citizen is God.” He noted that this sentiment aims to enhance public service capabilities and make them more sensitive to citizens’ needs. He added, “A key principle of success is to focus on expanding your own capabilities rather than diminishing others.”

Since independence, various institutions have operated with different objectives, but there was a need for an organization focused on capacity building to empower every government employee.

“The Karmayogi initiative is providing new strength and momentum to our efforts. Through this, we aim to build a team of capable workers. For a developed India, we need rapid economic growth and a skilled workforce. Historically, the emphasis was on rights upon becoming an officer, but today, duty is prioritized. We must envision our current values on a broader canvas for the future. Our goal is a developed India by 2047,” he stated.

In discussing the importance of learning, Modi highlighted the growing significance of technology. He noted the transformative power of technology in governance, distribution, and the economy. With advancements in AI, these changes are expected to accelerate. Thus, integrating technology into public service has become essential. “We are working to bridge gaps between different stages of development and break down barriers,” he said.

As a unique national initiative, the Capacity Building Commission launched ‘Sadhana Week 2026’ from April 2 to 8, 2026. This initiative represents one of the largest collaborative efforts in capacity building across India’s administrative services. It coincides with the establishment anniversary of the Capacity Building Commission and the fifth anniversary of the Karmayogi Mission.

Sadhana Week aims to empower human capabilities and promote adaptable development for national progress. This initiative will unite central ministries, departments, organizations, states, union territories, and over 250 administrative training institutions in a shared national capacity-building effort. Administrative officials nationwide will participate in structured programs designed to develop essential skills to achieve the ‘Developed India 2047’ goal.
