New Delhi, April 4: The Saket Court has denied bail to Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al-Falah University Group, in a money laundering case. He has been remanded to judicial custody until April 17.
According to reports, Siddiqui was presented before ASJ Sheetal Chaudhary after his police custody ended. The investigating agency stated that the investigation against him is ongoing, and he needs to be held in judicial custody to gather further evidence. Consequently, the court ordered his remand.
Siddiqui was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from Tihar Jail on March 24. This marks the second money laundering case filed against him.
This action is part of an investigation into money laundering linked to the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, Al-Falah University, and associated entities. The Al-Falah Group is also under scrutiny for its connection to the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10.
The ED had previously filed a chargesheet against Siddiqui on January 17. The investigation has revealed that fraudulent documents were used to acquire land illegally.
The agency alleges that Siddiqui, along with others, prepared fake documents to illegally claim a plot of land in Madanpur Khadar village, South-East Delhi, identified by Khasra number 792. This land spans approximately 1.146 acres and is valued at around ₹45 crore.
The ED also noted that the documents indicated the land’s price as ₹75 lakh, while the actual transaction value is suspected to be significantly higher. Investigative agencies are now focused on tracing the entire financial transaction and identifying other individuals and assets involved in this case.
