Kishanganj, April 4: Authorities in Bihar’s Kishanganj district have dismantled a significant fake Aadhaar card operation. The police arrested Manoj Kumar Sharma, a resident of Balujagir in the Tehragachh area, who is believed to be part of an interstate gang. Investigations are now underway to trace the gang’s connections with infiltrators.
A police official reported that they seized various documents and electronic devices from the arrested individual. These included fake Aadhaar cards for 400 individuals, a laptop, a monitor, thumb scanners, fingerprint scanners, a laptop charger, a CPU, bank passbooks, ATM cards, caste certificates, land records, and seals from a school principal and a village head.
Following tips about illegal Aadhaar card production, a special team was formed under the leadership of the sub-divisional police officer. The team acted on intelligence that fake certificates were being created at a grocery store in the Tehragachh area. Based on this information, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar ordered a raid on the grocery store located in Buljagir Ward Number Five.
During the operation, a large quantity of electronic devices, mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, ATM cards, bank passbooks, official seals, letterheads from the village head, ration cards, and copies of various certificates were recovered.
Manoj Kumar Sharma, the grocery store owner, was arrested for using fake seals to create various counterfeit documents. He allegedly uploaded these documents into the Aadhaar enrollment client software using another person’s Aadhaar ID and cloned thumb impressions to illegally generate Aadhaar cards.
The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend other members of this gang.
