New Delhi, February 5: Prime Minister Modi targeted Congress in the Rajya Sabha, questioning their upbringing and values. He noted that for nearly 25 years, there has not been a single parliamentary session without him being insulted.
He stated, “Even when I wasn’t a member of Parliament, there was not a session where I wasn’t insulted.” Modi humorously remarked that when asked about his health, he replied, “I consume two kilograms of insults daily.”
The Prime Minister expressed concern over why there is a desire to “dig my grave.” He emphasized that this sentiment reflects the deep-seated hatred within Congress.
Modi attributed this animosity to several of his government’s achievements, including the abrogation of Article 370, which he believes has led to development in the North East, previously plagued by violence and terrorism. He stated, “We respond to Pakistani terrorists by entering their territory; this is why they want to dig my grave.”
He also criticized former Prime Minister Nehru for the Indus Water Treaty, claiming it was a significant injustice to the nation, and noted that they have suspended this treaty, which has further fueled Congress’s animosity towards him.
Modi suggested that Congress struggles to accept his political success and longevity, stating, “They treat the Prime Minister’s position as their family property and have no faith in the Constitution or democracy.”
He remarked on the irony of Congress’s slogan of eradicating poverty, pointing out that despite their promises, they failed to deliver tangible results. “They gambled with the country’s future,” he said, emphasizing that their rhetoric was merely a slogan without action.
In contrast, Modi highlighted his government’s efforts to empower the poor. He praised the resilience of 250 million citizens who have overcome poverty, stating, “I salute my country’s poor. They have understood and embraced our policies, striving to improve their circumstances.”
He concluded by acknowledging the hope that has emerged among the previously despondent citizens, who now stand with him in pursuit of progress.
