Mumbai, March 14: A 25-year-old man was murdered in a road rage incident in the Malad area of Mumbai on Friday. Reports indicate that a minor argument escalated into violence, leading a taxi driver to attack the victim with a sharp weapon, resulting in his death. The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case.
The victim has been identified as Sharik Ansari, a resident of Malvani who worked at a digital marketing firm in Malad West. The accused have been named as Satyendra Gupta (28) and Sunil Pal (27), both residents of the Lalji Pada area in Kandivali West. The Bangur Nagar police apprehended both individuals.
According to police, the incident occurred around 11:30 AM near Inorbit Mall, close to Oshiwara Metro Station in Malad West. At the time, Sharik Ansari was riding his motorcycle, followed by a taxi. Both vehicles were traveling towards Andheri via the Link Road from Malvani. It was reported that a dispute arose over driving near Mith Chowki Junction, leading both drivers to stop their vehicles and engage in a heated argument. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
During the scuffle, taxi driver Satyendra Gupta allegedly retrieved a sharp object from his vehicle and attacked Sharik Ansari. The blow struck Ansari in the chest and the back of his neck, causing severe injuries. Following the incident, the injured young man was rushed to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon examination.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Bangur Nagar police arrived at the scene and took the suspects into custody. Subsequently, the police registered a murder case against both individuals.
In a statement, the Bangur Nagar police said, “A 25-year-old man was allegedly murdered in a road rage incident in Malad West on Saturday morning. The victim was riding a motorcycle, and a taxi was following him. A dispute ensued, after which the taxi driver attacked the young man with a sharp object, leading to his death.”
