Jaisalmer, March 14: The district administration of Jaisalmer has taken significant action against long-standing fraud and irregularities in the distribution of commercial gas cylinders. Under the strict directives of District Collector Pratap Singh, a team from the supply department conducted a surprise raid on the ‘Jaisalmer Bharat Gas Agency’ warehouse, located near the Saira Fort Hotel. The team seized the warehouse immediately after discovering widespread violations of regulations.
Led by District Supply Officer (DSO) Ramsingh Meena, the team conducted an in-depth investigation of the warehouse’s stock, records, and documents. Shocking revelations emerged during the inspection. The agency was found to be supplying commercial gas cylinders without the prior approval of the district administration, in blatant violation of clear orders from the state government.
There was a complete lack of consumer details available. Significant discrepancies and fraud were identified in the gate passes, billing, and distribution registers. In many instances, the number of cylinders and their distribution records did not match at all.
According to the supply department, this case not only reflects a disregard for government regulations but also highlights a complete lack of transparency in the distribution system. The misuse of commercial cylinders could potentially disrupt supplies to domestic consumers, raising serious concerns.
DSO Ramsingh Meena issued a stern warning, stating, “The distribution of commercial gas cylinders will no longer be conducted arbitrarily in the district. In the future, the entire process will operate under the direct supervision and written permission of the district administration. Any violation of rules and consumer interests will not be tolerated.”
He clarified that this action would not affect the supply of domestic cooking gas. There is a sufficient stock of domestic cylinders available in the district, and home deliveries will continue regularly as per bookings.
