Chennai, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK leader MK Stalin is currently resting at home on medical advice due to a viral infection that caused a fever. The illness has led to the postponement of the party’s significant annual event, “Mupperum Vizha,” which was scheduled for Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Stalin took to X (formerly Twitter) to provide an update on his health. He expressed gratitude to everyone who inquired about his wellbeing, stating, “After suffering from fever due to a viral infection, I am resting at home as advised by my doctors. Consequently, previously scheduled events have been postponed. The new date for the postponed Mupperum festival will be announced later as per the directives of the DMK General Secretary.”
In his post, Stalin noted that leaders from various political parties and movements, as well as friends from the arts community, have reached out to his office with concerns for his health. He thanked not only the leaders of coalition parties but also those from other parties and movements for their love and concern.
Stalin mentioned that, following his doctors’ recommendations, he will continue to rest at home for another two to three days. He encouraged party workers to celebrate the birthday of the great scholar Anna on Thursday with various programs organized by DMK colleagues. He also urged them to enthusiastically commemorate the birthday of Father Periyar and the founding day of the Dravidian Movement on September 17.
Notably, E.V. Ramasamy ‘Periyar,’ known as the ‘Father of the Dravidian Movement,’ was born on September 17, 1879. Stalin emphasized the importance of honoring Periyar’s statue and taking the social justice pledge declared by the headquarters at all DMK offices. He also requested the renewal and hoisting of party flags in celebration of the commencement of DMK’s 78th year.
