Congress Leader KC Venugopal Calls for Nationwide Protest Against Election Commissioner

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated on Saturday that attempts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to protect Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will only accelerate his downfall.

In a post on the social media platform X, Venugopal urged every concerned Indian to join a large protest in Delhi on Monday. This demonstration aims to challenge what he described as a nationwide vote theft orchestrated by the central government.

“We held extensive meetings with various leaders to prepare for this protest,” he said. “Members of Parliament, leaders, activists, and all aware citizens will rally against Gyanesh and his associates. A delegation of our senior leaders will submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice to intervene in this crisis. Gyanesh must go. We will not back down.”

Earlier, Venugopal accused the Prime Minister of being intimidated by opposition protests, noting that the government is taking measures such as closing metro stations to prevent demonstrators from reaching their destinations.

He emphasized that the Congress party and the INDIA alliance will continue to fight for the protection of citizens’ voting rights until the electoral process is free, fair, and transparent.

The INDIA bloc has previously met with the President to express their concerns regarding these issues. Venugopal also mentioned that opposition parties are planning to meet with the Chief Justice of India.

He reiterated that the struggle will persist until the democratic electoral system is free from flaws. Instead of addressing the concerns surrounding the electoral process, he accused the central government of attempting to shield Kumar.
