Kolkata, June 20: Tollywood actress and former TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking security. The hearing for this case is expected to take place on Monday in front of Justice Kaushik Chanda.
Mimi Chakraborty has filed a petition against BJP leader Tanay Shastri from Bangaon.
The incident dates back to January 25, when Mimi Chakraborty attended a cultural event organized by the ‘Naya Gopalganj Yuvak Sangh’ in Bangaon. Around 11:45 PM, while she was performing on stage, it is alleged that Tanay Shastri, an official from the club, abruptly climbed onto the stage.
Reports indicate that Shastri interrupted the event and demanded that Mimi Chakraborty leave the stage. This incident left the actress feeling publicly humiliated. Immediately after the event, she filed an FIR against Tanay Shastri at the Bangaon police station.
Based on Mimi Chakraborty’s written complaint, the police took swift action against the accused. However, Tanay Shastri later secured bail. After his release, he joined the BJP and subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against Mimi Chakraborty for 2 million rupees. In response, she also sent him a legal notice.
Meanwhile, significant political changes have occurred in the state, with the BJP coming to power in West Bengal. Amid this altered political landscape and ongoing legal disputes, Mimi Chakraborty has now turned to the court for her security.
