Kolkata, June 20: On the occasion of West Bengal Day, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari congratulated the residents of the state, calling it a significant day. He also launched a strong critique against the previous TMC government.
He stated, “Today is June 20. This is a very important day in the history of West Bengal and a day that determines the fate of Bengalis. On this historic day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of the state.”
In a post on X, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari wrote, “For the first time in decades, our nationalist government is officially celebrating ‘West Bengal Day,’ inspired by the great ideals of ‘Bharat Kesari’ Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, acknowledging the true and historic events surrounding the formation of West Bengal. The heinous conspiracy to erase our history has come to an end. The dark chapters of vote-bank politics and appeasement have concluded.”
He added, “It is unfortunate that the previous government attempted to completely suppress the significance of this sacred day merely to protect its vote bank and engage in shameless appeasement politics. This struggle for Bengali identity was attempted to be erased from the pages of history, so that people would forget their roots and the true heroes behind the formation of West Bengal. However, the truth can never be suppressed forever. Our government has corrected that historical mistake today and established the true history of Bengal with its rightful honor.”
The Chief Minister further stated, “Bengalis will always be indebted to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. On this special day, we remember our great national leader with deep respect, without whose vision, the state of West Bengal would not exist on the map of India today. When a dangerous plan was being devised to completely merge undivided Bengal into Pakistan, Dr. Mukherjee stood like an unyielding fortress against it. It was due to his steadfast leadership, tremendous movement, and visionary thinking that the formation of the state of ‘West Bengal’ as an integral part of India became possible.”
In another post on X, he wrote, “We owe a great debt to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Swami Pranavananda Maharaj, the founder of the Bharat Sevashram Sangh, and all those great personalities and members of the then West Bengal Assembly, whose efforts, vision, and historic decisions made West Bengal an integral part of India. If they had not created this safe haven for Bengalis, our culture, language, and existence would be in jeopardy today. On this auspicious occasion of West Bengal Day, let us all pledge to build a new, secure, and prosperous West Bengal, guided by the dreams and ideals of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee.”
