Ayodhya, May 31: On the occasion of Adhik Maas Purnima, devotees flocked to various religious sites across Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. A significant crowd was observed at the Sangam in Prayagraj during the morning hours. In Ayodhya, many devotees took a holy dip in the Saryu River before visiting temples for darshan.
At the Sangam in Prayagraj, millions gathered to perform a sacred bath during Brahma Muhurta. This event holds special significance for bathing and charitable acts. Local priests explained its spiritual importance.
Priest Gopal Guru shared, “Today, we refer to this as ‘Adhik Maas’ or ‘Lord Purushottam Month.’ All wishes and desires are fulfilled during this time, and rituals are completed successfully. Those who bathe in Prayagraj and perform ‘Vyakesh’ make both God and their ancestors happy, leading to prosperity.”
Thousands of devotees also congregated in Ayodhya, where they bathed in the Saryu River and engaged in worship at temples and ashrams.
After bathing in the Saryu River, devotee Ramcharan Yadav remarked, “Today is Adhik Maas Purnima. We have bathed here, and the riverbank is bustling with devotees. I am pleased with the arrangements here.”
A female devotee mentioned, “Adhik Maas is ongoing, and today is Jyestha Purnima. That’s why we came here to bathe. Jyestha Purnima holds great significance. We will visit the temple for darshan afterward.”
According to scriptures, the day of Adhik Purnima in Purushottam Maas is considered extremely auspicious. Activities such as reciting Vishnu Sahasranama, listening to Harivansh Purana, and performing charitable acts during this time are believed to yield special benefits.
