Meloni Congratulates PM Modi, Highlights Future of India-Italy Partnership

New Delhi, June 10: Georgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, has congratulated Narendra Modi on setting a new record as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.

In a post on the social media platform X, Meloni shared a picture of PM Modi and expressed her admiration. She stated, “PM Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, marking a significant and historic achievement.”

Meloni also referenced their recent meeting in Rome, stating that it was a pleasure to meet him again. She emphasized that both leaders have initiated a “special strategic partnership” between India and Italy, paving the way for new opportunities for both nations and their citizens.

PM Modi visited Italy on an official trip from May 19-20, 2026. During this visit, Meloni had posted a special message on X, welcoming him to Rome as “my friend!”

The two countries signed nearly 15 crucial agreements in areas such as security, critical minerals, and health. Additionally, they decided to launch the India-Italy “Year of Culture and Tourism” for 2027 to enhance cultural exchange.

A memorable moment during the visit was when PM Modi gifted Meloni a melody trophy. Expressing her delight, Meloni remarked that the gift was wonderful.

On Wednesday, PM Modi completed 4,399 days in office as Prime Minister, prompting congratulations from various world leaders. Among them were the President of Maldives, the U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gore, the President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumar Dissanayake, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago.

All these nations have expressed their commitment to strengthening ties and hailed PM Modi’s achievement as historic and remarkable.
