Bareilly, May 9: Maulana Mufti Shihabuddin Rajvi Bareilly, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, spoke to a news agency about significant political developments in West Bengal. He noted that Suvendu Adhikari has taken the oath of office as Chief Minister. With this constitutional role, he now bears substantial responsibilities and is expected to govern with the support of all communities.
Rajvi emphasized that there should be no discrimination or bias against any community now that Adhikari holds a constitutional position. He referenced Prime Minister Modi’s slogan, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Vishwas,” urging the new Chief Minister to adopt this as a guiding principle. He stated that Adhikari is the Chief Minister for everyone, regardless of who voted for him or not.
Furthermore, Rajvi addressed remarks made by extremist ideologues from Bangladesh regarding the elections in Bengal and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He urged Bengal’s Muslims to disregard such comments, asserting that he challenges these extremists not to provoke the community. “We know how to respond decisively,” he stated.
He also cautioned against any attempts to interfere in India’s internal matters, asserting that India is a democratic nation. Elections occur annually across the country, with winners and losers. However, he firmly stated that any interference from Bangladesh in Bengal’s affairs should not be tolerated.
In response, Deepankar Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, expressed concern over the timing of the BJP’s oath-taking ceremony on the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, highlighting the party’s history of disrespect towards the iconic figure.
