Haridwar, June 24: Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, the national president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, attended a meeting of the Uttarakhand state executive in Kalier, Haridwar. As the chief guest, he addressed a large gathering of scholars, Hafiz, and members of the Muslim community on various issues, including social harmony, democratic values, religious freedom, and national significance.
During the meeting, Maulana Madani stated, “In 1803, when our country was under colonial rule, the message of jihad was given for the nation’s freedom. It is the duty of every Muslim to engage in jihad to liberate the country from the chains of slavery. Those who do not understand this are ignorant.”
He highlighted the importance of Muslims and mosques in the struggle for independence, noting that the current government is demolishing these very mosques. He criticized past governments for causing harm to Muslims and keeping them embroiled in communal riots. He asserted that the current government is not only against Muslims but also against Islam itself, as religious sites are being destroyed.
Maulana Madani emphasized the significant contribution of Muslims to the country’s freedom and progress. He remarked that the nation can only thrive through love and harmony, yet mosques and madrasas are being demolished, and mob lynching of Muslims is occurring. He questioned what the country has given to Muslims in return for their contributions. “Without love and harmony, the country cannot function. I urge everyone to keep the politics of love alive instead of the politics of hatred,” he said.
He encouraged Muslims to live in love and harmony with everyone, stating that true loyalty to the country comes from such relationships. He recounted how, during the floods in Bengal, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind provided food to both Hindus and Muslims, yet today, the homes of those same Muslims are being destroyed, and madrasas are being shut down.
Referring to a recent incident of arson in Delhi, he noted that Muslims helped save lives by moving goods from their shops without asking anyone’s religion. “Are these people traitors to the nation?” he questioned.
