
Patna, June 18: A large yoga camp was organized at NIT Ghat in Patna as part of the ‘From Gangotri to Ganga Sagar’ initiative, just ahead of International Yoga Day. The event saw participation from numerous youths, government officials, social organizations, and local residents. The primary aim was to raise awareness about yoga and encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
This event was conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, with support from the Bihar government. Key attendees included Vaibhav Chaudhary, Additional Secretary of the Bihar Health Department, and BJP MLA Sanjay Gupta, both of whom shared their thoughts on the significance of yoga and its social impact.
BJP MLA Sanjay Gupta stated that the ‘From Gangotri to Ganga Sagar’ yoga campaign is being conducted across India through the Ministry of AYUSH. He noted that International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21, gaining global recognition due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative. He emphasized that yoga is the foundation for a healthy body and mind, enabling individuals to achieve significant goals in life.
Gupta also highlighted that the yoga event along the Ganges carries an important message: people should commit to maintaining the cleanliness of the Ganga River. He referred to the Ganga as ‘Ganga Maiya’ and stressed that it is every citizen’s responsibility to keep it clean. Over a thousand youths participated in the program, pledging to promote both yoga and Ganga conservation.
Vaibhav Chaudhary, the Additional Secretary of the Health Department, remarked that the main goal of ‘From Gangotri to Ganga Sagar’ is to connect more individuals with yoga and raise awareness about its benefits. He mentioned that conducting yoga by the river conveys a message of connecting with nature, fostering awareness about both environmental and health issues.
He further added that yoga is not only vital for physical health but also plays a crucial role in mental and social development. He stated that both state and central governments are working together to inspire people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
