New Delhi, May 21: Manoj Kumar Jha, a Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has criticized the central government regarding the upcoming Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks, and the ongoing strike by auto-taxi drivers in Delhi-NCR.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency, Jha expressed that the government has delayed addressing critical issues. He noted that since February 28, various countries had anticipated the looming crisis and its potential impact. However, he believes that Prime Minister Modi prioritizes elections over pressing concerns.
With the Prime Minister back from his foreign tour, Jha hopes for decisive action from the government. He urged Modi to ensure that any decisions made consider the safety and relief of the middle and lower-income groups. He pointed out that when crude oil prices were low, close associates of the government profited significantly. Now, he insists it is time for those profits to help alleviate the burden on the common people.
Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s controversial statements about PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Jha stated that Gandhi was speaking in the context of the Constitution. He emphasized that no one in public life should endorse such language. However, he also highlighted that Modi often labels the opposition with terms like “anti-national” and “urban naxal.” Jha questioned whether this should not be part of the discussion.
He further stated that political parties and leaders must collectively ensure that the dignity of language in public life is maintained at all times.
Commenting on the auto-taxi drivers’ strike in Delhi-NCR, Jha remarked that the rise in fuel prices would inevitably affect various sectors. He had previously warned that such price hikes would have widespread repercussions. He believes the government should take meaningful steps in this regard.
