Manchester, 9 December. Manchester United secured their fifth consecutive win in the Premier League by defeating Wolves 4-1. Bruno Fernandes played a key role by scoring two goals, helping United climb into the top six of the league.
Fernandes scored just before halftime, but Wolves’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde equalised soon after. Early in the second half, Bryan Mbeumo gave Wolves the lead again. However, Mason Mount scored the third goal for Manchester United in the 62nd minute. Fernandes converted a penalty in the 82nd minute to seal a convincing victory for his team.
With this win, Manchester United moved to sixth place with 25 points, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea.
Wolves suffered their eighth consecutive defeat. They remain at the bottom of the table with only two points, trailing Burnley by eight points.
After the match, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said, “I think we started the game very well. We scored a goal but allowed Wolves to come back a bit. We faced difficulties towards the end of the first half, but our pace improved in the second half. We made the right decisions and finished the game well. Wolves are going through a tough phase.”
He added, “We scored four goals but had many more chances. Comparing this season to last, we have improved a lot. We are creating more chances, scoring more goals, and generating more danger. I am very happy with this progress.”
Wolves coach Rob Edwards stated, “We made a comeback in the match, but conceding consecutive goals took the game away from us. At crucial moments, we gave the ball back to them. We are paying the price for poor play. We must keep improving and try to play better.”
