Mamata Banerjees Politics Limited to Optics: Kiyaa Ghosh

Kolkata, June 17: BJP leader and spokesperson Kiyaa Ghosh has criticized former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming she often appears in various roles and engages in what she describes as ‘optics’ or superficial politics on multiple issues.

Ghosh remarked that while children today participate in ‘Go As You Like’ competitions, Banerjee seems to have ample opportunities and time for such roles. She noted that at times, Banerjee presents herself as a lawyer, at other times as a doctor, a sister, or even as civic police. Ghosh humorously suggested that it would be interesting if Banerjee also appeared as a coal or sand smuggler.

Questioning Banerjee’s recent actions, Ghosh asked why, if she genuinely cared about an issue, she waited until a month after the elections to act. She stated that it appears to be an attempt to garner headlines. Ghosh referenced the 2021 assembly elections, highlighting that after losing in Nandigram, Banerjee repeatedly claimed she would go to court. However, she questioned the outcome of those legal actions and how often Banerjee personally appeared in court. In contrast, she noted that Suvendu Adhikari did not shy away from legal proceedings and openly stated he would go to court, while Banerjee did not follow through.

On the cleanliness campaign, Ghosh pointed out that children used to think twice before littering, as their parents would discourage such behavior. She expressed optimism that the government’s initiatives for cleanliness are a positive development for West Bengal. Ghosh emphasized that cleanliness in places like the Ganga ghats, temple complexes, roads, and markets is a good sign. As a resident of Kolkata, she sees this as a beacon of hope. A clean and beautiful Bengal is a desire shared by every citizen.
