Mamata Banerjee Wishes Bengali New Year, Urges Unity Against Narrow-Mindedness

Kolkata, April 15: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her warm wishes for the Bengali New Year to the people of the state through a video posted on Facebook. This festival is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Bengali calendar, known as Poila Baisakh.

In her post, Banerjee shared an emotional poem that spoke of the arrival of the new year and leaving behind the bitterness of the past year. She wrote, “Come, come, come, O Baisakh… let the winds of despair be blown away, and may the restrictions of the past year vanish.”

Mamata Banerjee expressed, “From the depths of my heart, I wish a heartfelt Bengali New Year to everyone living in every corner of the state. May this new dawn of a new era free your lives from all dirt and sorrows. Let every soul be filled with purity in this call of the new year.”

She emphasized, “Just as our Bengal is a sacred place of art and culture, it is also a holy home of religious harmony. Some evil forces have tried to tarnish this Bengal. Certain powers in Delhi are attempting to rob people of their votes. We must respond to them democratically.”

Banerjee appealed to the public, stating, “On this sacred day of the new year, let us all make a promise to break down all walls of narrow-mindedness and come forward openly. No divisive or tyrannical force will ever succeed in breaking our lasting peace or the bonds of our traditional camaraderie and brotherhood.”

In conclusion, she said, “Stay safe and healthy. In the upcoming assembly elections, exercise your democratic rights by voting for the Twin Flowers symbol and ensure a resounding victory for all nominated candidates of the Trinamool Congress.”
