New Delhi, June 3: Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will participate in the India Block meeting scheduled for June 8 in New Delhi.
Interestingly, on the same day, Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned for questioning at the West Bengal Police‘s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters. This inquiry relates to alleged irregularities involving the signatures of some Trinamool Congress legislators.
Initially, Abhishek was issued a notice to appear at the CID office on June 1. However, he requested a 15-day extension, citing health issues stemming from an attack he suffered on May 30 in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas.
On the evening of June 1, the CID issued a second notice, instructing him to appear on June 8.
A TMC legislator, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that following the West Bengal Assembly election results on May 4, Mamata Banerjee announced plans to initiate a new movement against the BJP. This movement is intended to extend beyond the state, leveraging the support of the India Block on a national scale.
According to the legislator, Mamata Banerjee’s presence at the India Block meeting on June 8 will mark a significant first step in this direction. He also noted that after the attack on Abhishek Banerjee on May 30, many prominent leaders from the India Block expressed their support on social media.
Leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and Hemant Soren were among those who showed their solidarity.
Abhishek Banerjee thanked these leaders on social media for their support. The TMC legislator emphasized that the unity displayed during this crisis could further strengthen at the India Block meeting on June 8.
