Government Targets Azam Khan, SP Stands Firmly by His Side: Awadhesh Prasad
Awadhesh Prasad of SP claims the government is targeting Azam Khan amid new legal troubles over alleged university construction fraud.

Lucknow, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Azam Khan, finds himself embroiled in legal troubles once again. Based on a report from the Enforcement Directorate, a new case has been filed against him at the Ajeem Nagar police station in Rampur. The allegations involve significant fraud related to the construction of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.
Awadhesh Prasad, a Member of Parliament from SP, asserts that these actions are politically motivated, claiming that the government and its officials are deliberately targeting Khan. “Azam Khan is a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, and we stand firmly by his side,” Prasad stated.
He further expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would face a significant defeat in the upcoming elections. “The BJP will be completely wiped out, and under Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership, the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) will form the government in 2027. If the BJP even secures 50 seats, it would be one of the biggest surprises,” he added.
Responding to comments made by AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, Prasad noted that voters in Owaisi’s constituency have already made their decision. He believes that the upcoming election results will reflect a growing wave of change, indicating a clear message that the current government is on its way out.
SP legislator Brajesh Katheria commented on the approaching elections, warning that the ruling party may resort to desperate measures. “When something is nearing its end, it often resorts to extreme measures. The BJP is trying to intimidate people to maintain power, but the people of Uttar Pradesh will not tolerate this,” he asserted.
Anil Kumar Sisodia, the Superintendent of Police in Rampur, confirmed the registration of the case against Khan, citing the Enforcement Directorate’s findings. The charges include underreporting the costs associated with the university’s construction, accepting funds from other companies awarded government contracts, and misrepresenting expenses related to a government-funded auditorium and buildings. Despite the total cost being 494 crore rupees, only 78 crore rupees were reportedly accounted for.
