New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The recent BRICS Summit held in New Delhi has drawn praise from leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), who emphasized India’s increasing significance in global affairs. They noted that the successful hosting of the summit has bolstered India’s stature on the world stage.
Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey remarked that India played a pivotal role in leading and hosting the BRICS summit. During the event, member countries, including Russia, China, and Indonesia, discussed several critical issues, particularly focusing on combating terrorism and enhancing trade cooperation among nations. He expressed confidence that India’s role will continue to strengthen in the future, further elevating its global standing.
In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, BJP leader R.P. Singh stated that there is no objection to Gandhi meeting foreign representatives. However, he urged Gandhi to consider the Malaysian Prime Minister’s previous comments about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stressing that politics should not interfere with diplomacy.
The topic of the extradition of Zakir Naik was raised during the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Anwar Ibrahim, according to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam. He noted that while the Malaysian Prime Minister attended the BRICS summit in India, details of their discussions remain unclear. Nirupam suggested that the issue of Naik’s extradition might have been discussed, but left it to the Congress party to clarify.
Nirupam highlighted the significance of the BRICS summit in light of shifting global dynamics, indicating that discussions on trade and international issues were crucial. He mentioned that the New Delhi declaration could play an essential role in shaping future directions and creating new development opportunities for various countries.
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi pointed out that the summit showcased India’s growing power, asserting that the country is emerging as a sovereign and robust nation. This strength is reflected in India’s ability to host significant international conferences like BRICS.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde stated he was unaware if the issue of Zakir Naik’s extradition was discussed during the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Anwar Ibrahim. He noted that the Malaysian Prime Minister had met with both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and had also engaged in talks with Prime Minister Modi. Their discussions reportedly focused on strengthening India-Malaysia relations, particularly in technology, trade, and infrastructure.
During the BRICS summit, Abhishek Singh, Director General of the National Testing Agency, mentioned the need to advance the Delhi Declaration adopted at the summit, especially in sharing knowledge and best practices in technology. He highlighted the participation of 37 deep-tech startups showcasing various solutions in artificial intelligence, expressing optimism about making AI governance more equitable, balanced, and open, ultimately improving people’s lives through technology.
