YSR Congress Party Urges No Uncontested Seats in Local Body Elections

YSR Congress Party insists all local body seats must be contested in upcoming elections, emphasizing full support for candidates.

Tadapalli, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is making a strong push to ensure that no seats remain uncontested in the upcoming local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. Following the announcement of the election schedule by the State Election Commission, party coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy emphasized the need for full participation.

Reddy instructed observers in parliamentary and assembly constituencies to remain active until the election process concludes. He stressed that support for party candidates must be unwavering from nomination to voting and counting.

In line with the directives from YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Reddy stated that every local body seat should see a contest, regardless of candidate presence. During a teleconference with observers and coordination teams, he highlighted the importance of advancing candidate selection, documentation, nominations, and campaigning simultaneously due to the brief election timeline.

Observers are required to be available around the clock for the next 15 to 20 days to address coordination issues and connect candidates with legal, media, digital, and organizational teams. Candidates must promptly apply for necessary documents like caste certificates and no-objection certificates, with delays reported to the central office for potential legal intervention.

Reddy urged candidates to submit their nominations as soon as possible and to document any obstacles, police interference, or administrative irregularities through video evidence. Observers are also tasked with monitoring campaign activities, polling station arrangements, CCTV coverage, counting centers, and other election-related logistics.

Field teams will be linked to parliamentary observers, regional coordinators, district presidents, and the central office via a daily reporting mechanism. Reddy noted that the performance of observers will be evaluated based on their field presence, problem-solving skills, coordination, and support provided to candidates during the election process.

Meanwhile, YSRCP General Secretary Lella Appi Reddy submitted a memorandum to the State Election Commission, requesting the establishment of a mechanism to obtain comprehensive details on any cases filed against potential candidates in local body elections. The memorandum pointed out that numerous YSRCP leaders and prospective candidates face various legal issues across different police stations, often lacking information about their case numbers or relevant police stations.

Appi Reddy urged the SEC to instruct the Director General of Police, district superintendents, police commissioners, and station officers to compile a consolidated and certified statewide list of cases against any potential candidates, ensuring accurate information during the nomination process.
