
Srinagar, June 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) launched extensive raids across various areas of the valley on Wednesday. This operation is part of an ongoing investigation related to a previously registered FIR at the CIK police station in Kashmir.
Senior police officials reported that search operations were conducted at eight locations across six districts. Raids took place at two sites each in Srinagar and Bandipora, with additional operations in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Sopore.
Initial investigations revealed that some suspects were in contact with Pakistan-based terror handlers and were communicating via encrypted messaging platforms. Authorities suspect these individuals of spreading extremist propaganda, engaging in radical activities, and promoting terrorism.
The police stated that further actions are underway, and they are awaiting more detailed information.
Meanwhile, the ongoing ‘Operation Sherawali’ in Rajouri has entered its 12th day. Security forces remain on high alert, conducting intensive search operations in the forested areas of Rajouri. As the operation progresses, a significant deployment of troops continues.
A strict security cordon has been established in the critical Mughalan-Dorimal belt, where security personnel are conducting extensive searches and surveillance. Multiple agencies are collaborating in this operation, with enhanced security measures implemented throughout the region.
Earlier on Sunday, security forces successfully apprehended an infiltrator in the Uri sector. The infiltrator was identified as Zeeshan Mir, son of Lal Mir, a resident of Pakistan. Reports indicate that he had crossed the Line of Control into the Uri sector. Alert soldiers exercised restraint while challenging the infiltrator and successfully captured him. He has been handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal action.
