Kaushambi, August 31: A devastating fire broke out at a fireworks factory in the Manori market area of the Pipri police station jurisdiction in Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The incident led to a series of explosions that sent shockwaves throughout the region. Tragically, 11 people have lost their lives, and five others have sustained injuries.
District Magistrate Amit Pal Sharma reported that rescue operations are ongoing. He stated, “Currently, the NDRF and SDRF teams are conducting rescue operations at the site. We have confirmed the deaths of 11 individuals, and five injured persons are receiving treatment at SRN Hospital. The teams remain on-site, ready to provide immediate medical assistance if any additional victims are found.”
The District Magistrate assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the incident. He said, “Anyone found guilty will face serious charges, and as per government directives, we will implement the harshest measures, including property confiscation. We are committed to taking stringent action.” Administrative teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to intensify the relief and rescue efforts.
Authorities suspect that more individuals may be trapped under the debris of the factory and nearby collapsed buildings. Consequently, search operations are continuing. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the incident and instructed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations while ensuring proper medical care for the injured. He also directed that assistance be provided to the affected families.
Local villagers were the first responders, helping to transport the injured on makeshift stretchers to the road. They were then taken to SRN Hospital with the help of vehicles and ambulances. Among the severely burned victims is a child. Several residents of nearby homes were also injured due to the explosions.
Chief Minister Yogi announced financial assistance of ₹200,000 for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. He expressed his condolences for the departed souls and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. He noted that the loss of multiple family members is particularly heartbreaking. He instructed that the injured receive the best possible medical care at SRN Hospital.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the government’s top priority is to save the lives of the injured and ensure that there is no shortage of medical support. He assured that every possible assistance would be provided to the families of the deceased. He has also directed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police to investigate the matter, promising that strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible. The harrowing scenes following the incident highlighted the tragedy, with some people searching for their loved ones amidst the rubble, while others anxiously sought information about their relatives at the hospital.
