Major Police Crackdown on Public Drinking: 347 Individuals Penalized in One Night

Noida, June 20: The Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate has launched a significant crackdown on individuals consuming alcohol in public spaces, resulting in legal action against 347 people in just one night.

Under the direction of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, this special operation aims to curb the rising trend of public drinking and ensure a safe and disciplined environment for citizens. According to police officials, the operation took place on June 19, 2026, across various areas of the district.

During the operation, individuals found consuming alcohol in public were charged under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in both the Central Noida and Greater Noida zones. Under the supervision of DCP Central Noida Shailendra Kumar Singh, a comprehensive checking campaign was conducted. A total of 232 individuals were penalized for drinking in parks, streets, markets, and other crowded areas.

The police issued warnings to all offenders under Section 292 IPC, advising them to refrain from such activities in the future. Meanwhile, DCP Greater Noida Ravi Shankar Nim led a separate operation that resulted in action against 115 individuals. Police teams conducted inspections at various public locations to ensure legal compliance.

Authorities emphasize that consuming alcohol in public not only violates the law but also disrupts social harmony, often leading to disputes and criminal incidents. In light of this, the Commissionerate police are committed to conducting ongoing operations of this nature.

Gautam Buddha Nagar police have made it clear that strict action will continue against those drinking in public, causing disturbances, or violating peace. The police urge citizens to adhere to the law and assist the administration in maintaining discipline in public spaces.
