Ghaziabad, August 25: The Noida unit of the Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered a significant inter-state cannabis smuggling operation. Five suspects, including a prominent member of the notorious Raunak gang from Bihar named Prince, were arrested during the operation in the Tronica City area of Ghaziabad.
Approximately 150 kilograms of illegal cannabis were seized, with an estimated street value of around ₹3.75 million. According to the STF, the arrested individuals were engaged in organized smuggling activities, transporting cannabis from Bihar to the Delhi-NCR region and nearby areas, including Meerut. The suspects utilized two vehicles for their operations, both of which have been confiscated by the STF.
Investigations revealed that Prince is an active member of the Raunak gang, and the STF suspects that several other individuals are involved in this network, playing various roles in the procurement, transportation, and distribution of cannabis.
The police and STF are currently interrogating the arrested suspects to uncover the entire network of the gang. They are also investigating where the cannabis was sourced in Bihar and who the recipients were in Delhi-NCR and Meerut. Additionally, efforts are being made to gather information on other gang members, potential buyers, and trafficking routes.
Officials stated that a continuous campaign against drug trafficking at the inter-state level is underway. The Noida unit of the STF received information about this smuggling ring, which led to the successful operation in the Tronica City area, resulting in the arrest of the five suspects. The seizure of approximately 150 kilograms of cannabis, valued at ₹3.75 million, has been deemed a significant achievement.
The STF is also looking into the criminal history of the suspects and is trying to ascertain how many times the gang has successfully transported cannabis to Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh. Interrogations of all five suspects are ongoing.
The STF hopes that further questioning will reveal additional key figures connected to this inter-state cannabis smuggling network. The police team is also preparing to take further action to apprehend other members of the gang.
