Mumbai, May 21: Jharkhand police have intensified their crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, leading to significant seizures in the Chhatra and Ramgarh districts. In Chhatra, authorities confiscated approximately 324 kilograms of illicit opium, valued at around 5 million rupees in the international market.
In a separate operation in Ramgarh’s Patratu area, police arrested three individuals found in possession of brown sugar and heroin. The Chhatra operation occurred during a vehicle inspection on the Chhatra-Simaria main road. Superintendent of Police Animesh Naithani reported that late-night intelligence indicated the smuggling of opium via two vehicles from the Delho area of the Lawalung police station.
Based on this information, a special raid team was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Shubham Bhau Saheb. During the checking operation, police attempted to stop an Ertiga and a Honda Amaze, but the drivers fled into the darkness, abandoning their vehicles.
Upon searching, police recovered 169 kilograms of opium from the Ertiga and 155 kilograms from the Honda Amaze. Both vehicles were seized, and a case has been registered at the Simaria police station. Authorities are actively searching for the fleeing traffickers.
