Wardha, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Wardha police have launched a significant crackdown on illegal mahua liquor production following directives from Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal. On September 29, 2026, a special operation was conducted by the local crime branch targeting illegal distillers in the region.
During the operation, authorities targeted a site near the cremation ground in Gohda village, located within the Selu police station area. Police seized a total of 3,200 liters of illicit mahua liquor and related materials, amounting to ₹6.6 lakh. The confiscated items were destroyed on-site.
Two individuals, Anand Rai and Ashish Rai, both residents of Hingani, have been booked under the prohibition laws at the Selu police station for their involvement in the illegal production of mahua liquor.
This operation was carried out under the leadership of Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary, with the support of police personnel Arvind Yenurkar, Ravi Purohit, and Sagar Bhosale, following instructions from Superintendent Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare.
