Major Crackdown on Inter-State Investment Fraud Call Center in Indore, Six Arrested

New Delhi, August 5: The Cyber Police Station in Dwarka has successfully dismantled an inter-state illegal investment fraud call center operating in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Six cybercriminals have been arrested for allegedly defrauding investors through fake stock market and forex trading schemes.

According to police reports, the call center was operating under the guise of a reputable investment and trading company. It was linked to numerous complaints of cyber fraud from various states across the country. During the operation, authorities seized 28 CPUs, 25 mobile phones, two Wi-Fi routers, one DVR, and an audio-video recording camera. Additionally, over 1,400 spreadsheets containing personal and financial information of thousands of investors were confiscated.

This operation was part of an investigation into a cyber fraud case where a resident of Delhi was cheated out of ₹1.73 million under the pretext of investing in the stock and forex markets.

The police stated that Sunil Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar in Delhi, filed a complaint on July 5. He alleged that unknown individuals had encouraged him to invest through an online trading platform. Initially, he was convinced to invest in the Indian stock market, after which he was persuaded to put money into forex trading. He was repeatedly urged to invest more funds by showing him fake profits.

When he attempted to withdraw his investment and alleged profits, the fraudsters made various excuses and eventually reported losses in trading. This resulted in a total loss of ₹1,730,050. Sunil had been continuously investing since March 30, 2026, before realizing he had been defrauded.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 318(4), 319, and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code at the Cyber Police Station in Dwarka.

Under the direction of DCP Kushal Pal Singh and Additional DCP Vikas Meena, the cyber police team initiated a technical investigation. After tracing the mobile numbers used to contact the complainant, the police reached Indore.

Led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar and under the supervision of Cyber Station In-Charge Inspector Sandeep Tushar and ACP Operations Subhash Malik, a special team conducted a raid in the Sadar Bazaar area of Indore.

During the raid, six individuals involved in making fraudulent investment calls were arrested. They were initially presented in a local court in Indore and later brought to Delhi.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sumit Singh Chaudhary (23), Rahul Singh (32), Ashwini Kumar (35), Mahesh Singh (32), Piyush Rathore (27), and Ravinder Singh Chauhan (24). Investigators revealed that the suspects worked as callers and team leaders within this fraudulent network. Mobile phones used in the crime were also recovered.

The police investigation uncovered that this gang obtained data from individuals who had previously invested in the stock market through illegal sources. The callers would first convince people to invest in the Indian stock market and then lure them into putting money into a fake international forex trading platform.

Victims were instructed to deposit money into personal bank accounts and were shown fake profits to encourage further investment. When investors attempted to withdraw their funds, the fraudsters would make excuses, ultimately stealing their entire investment by fabricating losses.

During questioning, the suspects revealed they had been working at this illegal call center for the past two to four months. They received monthly salaries ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹14,500, along with a commission of about 10% of the amount defrauded. Both salary and commission were paid in cash.

Among the 25 mobile phones recovered, three were linked to the numbers that contacted the complainant. The 28 CPUs contained over 1,400 Excel sheets with sensitive information, including names, PAN details, mobile numbers, email IDs, and bank account information of thousands of individuals.

The police indicated that analysis of the recovered data has revealed connections to several cyber fraud cases registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), with total losses exceeding ₹5.47 million. Victims from multiple states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, and Bihar, have been identified.
