Bhopal, August 5: Bus fares in Madhya Pradesh have seen a significant increase. The state government has officially published the new rates in the gazette. The fare has now risen to two rupees per kilometer, up from the previous rate of one rupee and twenty-five paise. Bus operators in the state had been demanding fare hikes and had even threatened to go on strike.
The government has set the fare for all buses, except city buses, at two rupees per kilometer. The minimum fare will now be ten rupees. Different categories of buses will have varying fare structures. According to the transportation department’s published rates, super luxury coach buses can charge up to seventy-five percent more than regular buses.
For deluxe buses, the additional fare limit is fifty percent, while sleeper buses can charge forty percent more. Non-AC deluxe buses will have a fare increase of twenty-five percent. Night services for regular buses will incur a ten percent surcharge.
Notably, there will be no night surcharge for deluxe, sleeper, and luxury buses. The fare has now officially increased to two rupees per kilometer, reflecting a rise of seventy-five paise from the previous rate.
