Noida, February 25: In anticipation of the upcoming Holi festival, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Gautam Buddha Nagar has launched a stringent campaign against food adulteration. Under the directives of the District Magistrate, a special inspection drive is being conducted by food safety officials across markets, dairies, sweet shops, and restaurants.

The primary goal is to ensure the availability of pure and safe food products to the public. On Wednesday morning, a team led by Assistant Food Commissioner Suresh Mishra raided Chaudhary Paneer Bhandar located in Tilpatta, Greater Noida.

During the inspection, approximately 200 kilograms of cheese was found. The cheese appeared to be contaminated and adulterated at first glance, prompting the team to collect a sample for testing. The remaining 200 kilograms of cheese was destroyed on-site.

According to departmental officials, the spoiled cheese was disposed of in a drain to prevent it from re-entering the market. Food safety officers Vishal Kumar Gupta and Syed Ibadullah executed this operation.

Additionally, food safety officer S.K. Pandey and O.P. Singh’s team collected a sample of khoya from Ganeshwaram Restaurant in Noida Sector 45. Meanwhile, officers Mukesh Kumar and Vijay Bahadur Patel also collected a khoya sample from Gopala Sweets in Sector 93 for testing.

In total, three samples have been sent for laboratory analysis. The Assistant Food Commissioner indicated that if the lab reports indicate that the samples do not meet safety standards, strict action will be taken against the respective establishments under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

He emphasized that complaints of adulteration tend to rise during festivals, which is why the department is conducting the campaign with utmost vigilance. Shopkeepers have been clearly warned that the sale of adulterated or substandard food products will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Officials have also urged citizens to report any suspicious food items to the department promptly, enabling timely action.
