New Delhi, July 19: In a significant operation, the Delhi Police have arrested 10 individuals in connection with digital exploitation. These arrests stem from allegations related to sharing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The Central District Police initiated action under a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against the transmission, downloading, storage, and dissemination of materials associated with child sexual exploitation and abuse. Over the past five days, five such cases have been registered, prompting a joint operation by the police, resulting in the apprehension of the 10 suspects.
Charges have been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Information Technology (IT) Act. Digital devices seized from the suspects have been sent for forensic examination, while further technical investigations continue to identify additional suspects.
This operation was launched following information received from digital signals and an international cyber tip-line, which indicated illegal online activities related to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Material (CSEAM). Subsequent technical investigations confirmed the exchange of prohibited materials, leading to the filing of criminal cases and coordinated action across the district.
According to police, the accused were found directly involved in uploading and disseminating content related to child sexual exploitation and abuse. Mobile phones and other digital hardware have been confiscated from the suspects.
Technical experts are currently conducting a detailed forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices and are investigating additional digital footprints. Legal action is ongoing, and teams are continuously monitoring for further internet footprints. As the technical analysis of the remaining dataset progresses, more arrests are anticipated in these cases.
