New Delhi, April 7: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has approved a significant change in the Chartered Accountant examinations. Starting this year, the final exams will now be conducted only twice a year. Previously, these exams were held three times annually. However, beginning in May 2026, the exams will be limited to just two sessions.
The institute clarified that the final examinations, which were traditionally held in January, May, and September, will now take place only in May and November. This decision follows numerous suggestions and feedback from stakeholders regarding the examination schedule.
According to the institute, the aim of this change is to streamline the examination process, making it more balanced and favorable for candidates. The frequent scheduling of exams had increased pressure on students and added strain on resources and management. By conducting exams twice a year, students will have more time for preparation, and the examination process can be managed more effectively.
An official announcement was made by Anand Kumar Chaturvedi, the Joint Secretary (Examinations) of the institute. He stated that this new arrangement will come into effect from the May 2026 examination session and will be followed in the future. This decision is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of the Chartered Accountancy curriculum, improving exam management, and prioritizing student interests, ultimately leading to a more organized and reliable examination system.
Experts believe that this decision will assist students in planning their studies more effectively. Additionally, the institute will be able to conduct examinations, evaluations, and result processes with greater quality and transparency.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has initiated the 64th Campus Placement Program for newly qualified candidates. Deadlines for participating companies and candidates have been released on the official portal. To ensure uniformity and high standards across all centers, the institute has also launched a standardized orientation program. This program covers the placement process, career opportunities, employer expectations, interview preparation, and practical guidance.
A significant number of prestigious companies from various sectors are participating this time. Major recruitment activities are taking place in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur, with placements also being organized in 20 smaller centers. These interviews will be conducted in phases from April 6 to April 17 across various cities, providing opportunities for as many candidates as possible.
