Anantnag Police Arrest Five Drug Traffickers, Seize Over 5.9 Kilograms of Narcotics

Anantnag, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Anantnag Police have ramped up their campaign against drug trafficking in a bid to eradicate substance abuse from the region. In a series of operations, authorities apprehended five alleged drug traffickers and confiscated a significant quantity of narcotics.

In an initial operation, a team from the Shrigufwara police station arrested Shah Nawaz Ahmed Gani, a resident of Sirhama, during a checkpoint at the Hatigam crossing. A search revealed he was in possession of 5.78 kilograms of charas powder. An FIR has been registered at the Shrigufwara police station regarding this case.

Meanwhile, during patrols in the Kokernag-Bider area, officers from the Kokernag police station detained Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Nala Sunbahri, Magam, who had approximately 18 grams of a substance resembling charas. An FIR has also been filed at the Kokernag police station in this matter.

In a separate operation in Hilar Arhama, police arrested Rais Ahmed Gani from Shelipora, Achbal, discovering around 40 grams of charas-like substance. This incident has been documented with an FIR at the Kokernag police station as well.

Additionally, during routine patrols in the Poli area, Duru police apprehended a suspicious individual identified as Amir Ahmed Nazar from Kapran. Upon searching him, police seized about 90 grams of charas. Relevant legal action has been initiated at the Duru police station, and further investigations are ongoing.

Another operation led by a team from the Sangam police post resulted in the arrest of Sahil Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Charsoo in Avantipora. Approximately 1.78 kilograms of a cannabis-like substance was found in his bag. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Bijbehara police station, with further inquiries underway.

Anantnag Police have emphasized their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring strict legal action against those involved. They call for community support in this collective fight to safeguard the future of the youth.
