New Delhi, March 18: The Anti-Burglary Cell of Dwarka district has successfully apprehended a thief active in the Najafgarh and Chhawla areas. The accused, identified as Prince Kumar, 22, is the son of Satrighan Rai. Police recovered two stolen mobile phones, a silver anklet, a stolen motorcycle, and several Red Bull energy drinks from his possession.
According to a press release issued by Dwarka police on Wednesday, the complainant, Yogesh Kumar (son of Satveer, resident of Gaushala No. 2, Gali No. 1, Maksudabad Colony, Najafgarh, Delhi), reported a burglary at his home. The incident occurred while he was away from March 3 to March 8. Thieves made off with utensils, cash, a gold chain, and a silver anklet.
An e-FIR was registered at the Najafgarh police station regarding this case. Following the directives of Dwarka DCP Kushal Pal Singh (IPS), the team visited each crime scene. Led by Inspector Vivek Maindola, the Anti-Burglary Cell inspected the locations and analyzed CCTV footage for eight days. The footage revealed two masked individuals entering the complainant’s home on the night of March 7-8, but they were not seen exiting. The team noted that there was a gaushala behind the house and questioned workers there using the footage. One worker recognized Prince Kumar.
Subsequently, the team kept a close watch on Prince Kumar, conducting multiple raids in Ranohola, Mohan Garden, Chhawla, and Najafgarh. On March 13, they received a tip-off that he would arrive at UER-II, Goyla Village, Delhi, on a stolen motorcycle. The team set a trap and successfully apprehended him. During the arrest, they recovered two stolen mobile phones, a pair of silver anklets, six Red Bulls, and a stolen Splendor motorcycle.
In police interrogation, Prince Kumar revealed that his family hails from Kalyanpur district in Bihar. He has four brothers, while his father works as a laborer at the Najafgarh gaushala and his mother is a maid. Prince moved to Delhi in 2021 and began working as a daily wage laborer. During this time, he fell into bad company and became addicted to drugs, which led him to commit theft.
Police have arrested Prince Kumar and solved a total of seven cases, including one previously registered for house burglary. The recovered items include two mobile phones, a pair of silver anklets, six Red Bulls, and a Splendor motorcycle.
