Main Suspect Detained in Guwahati Flyover Birthday Party Incident

Guwahati, June 24: The police have detained the main suspect in the birthday party incident that took place on the Kumar Varma Flyover in Guwahati. This action follows widespread outrage after a video of the event went viral on social media.

The primary suspect has been identified as Gautam Baruah. An FIR has been registered at the Bharalumukh police station, and authorities are currently interrogating him.

According to police reports, charges have been filed against Gautam Baruah under Sections 125, 285, and 270 of the Indian Penal Code.

During the investigation, a total of 14 individuals have been taken into custody, including a couple associated with the birthday celebration. Additionally, four vehicles used during the party have been seized.

The birthday party was reportedly held on June 21 at around 12:30 AM on the Kumar Varma Flyover.

Videos circulating on social media showed a red carpet laid out on the flyover, with numerous people celebrating in the middle of the road. This raised questions about how a private event could be permitted on a public roadway.

Citizens expressed concerns that such gatherings pose a serious threat to traffic management and public safety, demanding strict action against those responsible. Many users on social media emphasized that public infrastructure should not be used for private events and that traffic regulations must be enforced uniformly.

The police have intensified their investigation and are looking into the roles of other individuals involved in the incident. Officials have stated that legal action will be taken against those who violate the law.
