Main Accused in Attack on Lawrence Bishnois Lawyer Arrested

New Delhi, March 3: The Delhi Police have arrested Rohit Solanki, the main accused in the shooting incident involving the legal team of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The attack on Bishnoi’s legal team occurred last Tuesday near the Marghat Baba Temple in the Kashmiri Gate area of North Delhi, resulting in one person being injured. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of lawyers handling high-profile gangster cases.

According to the Delhi Police, lawyer Deepak Khatri was returning home with his team in a car late on February 24 when assailants linked to Rajasthan gangster Rohit Godhara opened fire on them.

CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts reveal that three attackers on motorcycles fired six shots at the car from behind. There were five people in the vehicle, including Khatri. During the attack, a young man named Sandeep was hit by two bullets and is currently receiving treatment at Ganga Ram Hospital, while Khatri narrowly escaped injury.

Reports indicate that the attackers fled the scene on their bikes. Following the incident, Rohit Godhara allegedly threatened Khatri and his family over the phone from abroad, prompting the lawyer to urgently request protection for himself and his family. However, authorities have yet to provide any security.

DCP Raja Banthia from North Delhi stated that the police are investigating the case based on CCTV footage and information from informants. On February 25, Rohit Godhara and other gang members, including Naveen Buxar, Rahul Fatehpur, and Sunny Yama, claimed responsibility for the attack. In a social media post, the gang stated that the attack was retaliation for Khatri allegedly informing the police.

The arrest of Rohit Solanki is considered a significant breakthrough in the case. Authorities are actively searching for other suspects and investigating potential connections between various gangs operating in Delhi and Rajasthan. Legal experts have expressed concern over the increasing threats faced by lawyers handling organized crime cases and emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures for members of the legal community.

Meanwhile, the South East Delhi Police have arrested 200 criminals as part of Operation Aghaat, seizing 10 weapons and over 10,000 bottles of alcohol in the process.
