Bhopal, June 29: In a significant move to strengthen the renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate two large solar parks with a total capacity of 950 megawatts on Monday. The Neemuch Solar Park, with a capacity of 500 megawatts, and the Shajapur Solar Park, with 450 megawatts, mark a crucial milestone in the state’s clean energy journey.
The inauguration event will also feature Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, and the state’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Rakesh Shukla. During this event, a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be signed for the state’s first 440 megawatt Moraena Solar Plus Storage Project, touted as the most cost-effective solar plus storage project in the country.
This project has secured an impressive tariff of ₹2.70 per unit, making it the lowest for solar energy with storage in India. Additionally, the foundation stone will be laid for various industrial units and development projects, amounting to ₹1,553.98 crore.
Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of New and Renewable Energy, highlighted the competitive rates achieved. The units at Neemuch Solar Park have been set at remarkably low rates of ₹2.14 to ₹2.15 per unit, while the rates for Shajapur Solar Park units range between ₹2.33 and ₹2.35 per unit.
These rates are among the lowest in the country, making these projects highly beneficial and practical for consumers.
Amit Tomar, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation, stated that the Chief Minister and Union Minister will jointly lay the foundation and inaugurate several projects, promoting industrial growth and energy self-sufficiency in the state.
For the upcoming Agar Solar Park (550 megawatts), competitive rates of ₹2.44 to ₹2.45 per unit have also been achieved, further strengthening the state’s solar portfolio. These initiatives are expected to create significant job opportunities, attract investments, and greatly assist in achieving Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy goals.
