Bhopal, February 26: In a significant move to enhance industrial education, 88 colleges and 8 universities in Madhya Pradesh have signed an agreement with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Western Region, Mumbai). This initiative aims to provide apprenticeship opportunities for students enrolled in various educational institutions across the state.

The agreement was formalized during a ceremony attended by Anupam Rajan, Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, and Prabal Sipaha, Commissioner of Higher Education. The collaboration, facilitated by CRISP, New Delhi, promotes the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program (AEDP), allowing students to gain practical, industry-relevant skills alongside their academic studies.

Representatives from the colleges, universities, and the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Postgraduate Autonomous College in Bhopal.

Rajan emphasized that the AEDP, initiated in the 2024-25 academic year, aligns with the National Education Policy 2020. The goal is to make education employment-oriented, equipping students with skills that meet industry demands.

Currently, courses in AI, FinTech with AI, and AEDP are being offered in collaboration with IIT Delhi. The department is also providing online learning options to cater to contemporary educational needs. Through various digital platforms, including the Self-Portal, the Higher Education Department is continuously advancing and establishing its presence nationally.

The AEDP will not only provide students with apprenticeship opportunities but also stipends during their apprenticeship period. Private educational institutions are also participating in the implementation of the AEDP courses.

The primary objective of this agreement is to connect students in colleges and universities with apprenticeship opportunities. Institutions implementing the AEDP in the 2025-26 academic session will receive training and guidance, ensuring students gain practical industry experience. This initiative aims to enhance students’ employability skills and prepare them for future job opportunities by linking academic education with skill and industry requirements.
