Jabalpur, August 1: In a significant initiative, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a campaign to plant 1.1 million trees in Madhya Pradesh, starting from the Gita Bhawan complex in Jabalpur. During the event, he announced plans to designate Jabalpur as a Metropolitan City within the next year.
The Chief Minister instructed local officials, including the Commissioner and Collector, to expedite the preparation of a draft proposal for Jabalpur’s Metropolitan City status. He also revealed plans to establish a ‘furniture cluster’ in the city. Additionally, the medical university in Jabalpur will be developed into the state’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
To enhance tourism in the nearby national parks, a zoo will be constructed near Madan Mahal Hill, providing visibility for wild animals. New Sandipani schools will also be established in all assembly constituencies as needed.
Yadav emphasized the government’s commitment to cooperation, stating, “The essence of government is cooperation, and cooperation means family.” He highlighted India’s tradition of unity and cooperation, which has been upheld since ancient times.
The tree planting campaign aims to strengthen our bond with nature. The Chief Minister described trees as akin to sages, providing clean air and life to all. Using the innovative Japanese ‘Miyawaki method,’ 12,000 trees can be planted on just one acre of land, creating a dense forest in less than three years.
Madhya Pradesh is known as the cradle of rivers, with lush forests nourished by them. Rivers like the Narmada bring prosperity to Gujarat and Rajasthan, while the Chambal and Son rivers enhance the flow of the Ganges and Yamuna.
