Srinagar, July 22: On the occasion of the completion of 100 days of the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign’, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the battle against narcotics is far from over.
During an event organized by the Social Welfare Department, LG Sinha remarked that while this milestone signifies significant progress, the mission is still ongoing. He asserted, “We are determined to dismantle the drug cartels and narco-terror networks that target our youth. We will continue to strengthen our rehabilitation efforts, raise awareness among the public, and assist those affected in reintegrating into society. The road ahead will be challenging, but our resolve to eradicate narco-terrorism is stronger than ever.”
Sinha shared that throughout the 100-day campaign, he visited every region of the Union Territory and engaged with communities across all 20 districts through foot marches.
He recalled meeting numerous parents who were anxious about their children’s futures. “Standing with families during their darkest moments allowed me to truly grasp the depth of their sorrow. Yet, amidst that pain, I saw a steadfast hope that our youth can break free from addiction and reclaim their lives. During my journey, I witnessed both despair and courage, and I can proudly say that the public support for this campaign has been unprecedented in Jammu and Kashmir’s history.”
He emphasized, “The message from our foot marches resonated in every district: we will not allow our youth or our future to be stolen. In the past 100 days, we have backed that resolve with decisive action. A total of 2,581 drug traffickers have been arrested, approximately 1,431 kg of narcotics, including 23.29 kg of heroin, have been seized, and assets worth over ₹188.89 crores have been confiscated to curb narco-terror financing.”
