New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : A lawyer named Amita Sachdeva has lodged a complaint with Delhi police against social media influencer Nishu Azad and her guardians. The complaint alleges that Azad shared offensive posts about Hindu deities on social media, which hurt religious sentiments.
Sachdeva stated that she had given Azad and her father a chance to remove the controversial posts before taking legal action. She claims that since Azad is a minor, both she and her guardians were asked to delete the posts. However, they allegedly failed to do so, and the offensive material remains publicly accessible.
The complaint specifically mentions posts related to deities such as Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Goddess Saraswati, and Goddess Durga, asserting that these posts disrespect Hindu faith and its deities. Sachdeva has urged Delhi police to take appropriate legal measures against Azad and her father.
In her statement, Sachdeva emphasized that while everyone has the right to disagree with a religion or belief, freedom of expression should not extend to insulting the deities of any faith.
Previously, the Delhi police arrested influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, who claimed to have assaulted Azad’s father during a protest at Jantar Mantar organized by the so-called “Cockroach Public Party.” Following this incident, protests took place outside Jantar Mantar and the Parliament Street police station, with demonstrators demanding serious charges against Bhardwaj under the POCSO Act and SC/ST Act, among others.
Later, Union Minister Chirag Paswan also filed a complaint with Delhi police, alleging that Bhardwaj misused his name and called for a fair investigation into the matter.
