Ghaziabad, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet against 13 accused in the Ghaziabad espionage case to a special court in Lucknow. The individuals named include Praveen, Raj Valmiki, Shiva Valmiki, Hrithik Gangwar, Sameer alias Shooter, Durgesh Nishad, Naushad, Gagan Kumar, Vivek, Shivraj, Meera Thakur, and Shane Iram alias Mehak.
This action was taken under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, specifically Sections 61(2) and 152, the Official Secrets Act Sections 3 and 5, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act Sections 13, 17, and 18. A detailed investigation report concerning five minors involved in the case was previously submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board in Ghaziabad on May 18, 2026.
The case was initially registered at the Kaushambi police station on March 14, 2026. To date, law enforcement has arrested 21 individuals in connection with the matter.
Investigations have revealed that the accused conspired to commit illegal acts and serious offenses against India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity. They unlawfully infiltrated sensitive and restricted areas, installing surveillance cameras and transmitting critical information, including geo-tagged images and videos, to entities in hostile nations.
The accused also obtained and utilized Indian SIM cards with the assistance of organizations linked to enemy countries. They actively aided in collecting sensitive images and videos of critical locations, complete with precise GPS coordinates, which posed a threat to national security and integrity.
On March 14, police received information about several youths in the Bhawapur area engaging in suspicious activities. These individuals were reportedly capturing videos and photos of railway stations, security forces, and other vital establishments, sending this information to overseas contacts. They were also allegedly enticing other youths to join these activities with monetary incentives.
Following this tip-off, police quickly registered a case and arrested five men and one woman in the initial phase. Investigations of their mobile phones revealed sensitive videos, photos, and location data of various critical sites.
Given the severity of the situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed. From March 17, the accused were taken into police custody for questioning, leading to further actions against nine additional accused on March 20, including five minors.
The main accused, Naushad Ali alias Lalu, was arrested on March 22. Based on his information, a female accomplice, Meera, and a minor were also apprehended. It was revealed that this entire network operated under the direction of handlers situated across the border.
