Law and Order in Jharkhand Under Scrutiny: Babulal Marandis Strong Remarks

Ranchi, July 2: Babulal Marandi, the leader of the opposition in Jharkhand, has raised serious concerns regarding the state’s law and order situation. During a press conference on Thursday, he stated that there is virtually no law and order left in the state.

Recently, a leader of the Karni Sena was murdered in front of the police in Jamshedpur. Marandi criticized the subsequent actions taken by the authorities, describing them as mere formalities. He pointed out that the Superintendent of Police (SP) was removed from his position, but he believes this is not a sufficient punishment.

According to Marandi, an FIR should be filed against the police officer involved. He emphasized that if a murder occurs in front of the police, they must be held accountable. However, to his knowledge, no FIR has been registered against the police officer involved. Instead, FIRs have been filed against those who dined at the hotel from which the victim exited.

He questioned the logic of holding a hotel owner responsible if someone leaves their establishment and is murdered on the street in front of police officers. Marandi stated that the current deterioration of law and order in the state is directly the responsibility of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He also mentioned ongoing discussions about an Assistant Sub-Inspector named Ajay, who is allegedly involved in extortion.

Marandi further noted that officials across various departments appear helpless and powerless. Decisions regarding police transfers are made solely by the Chief Minister’s office, leaving no room for dissent among officers.

He concluded by reiterating that the police administration must be held accountable for the recent murder in Jamshedpur, calling for necessary actions against them.
