Law and Order a Major Concern in West Bengal, Claims Dilip Ghosh

Kharagpur, April 2: As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, political rhetoric is intensifying. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government.

Ghosh stated that neither Mamata Banerjee nor any member of her family participated in the freedom struggle. He emphasized that those who were part of the independence movement are now a part of history. He argued that questioning the BJP’s role during that time is inappropriate since the party did not exist then.

He also pointed out that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was active during the freedom struggle, with its founder, Dr. Hedgewar, participating and even facing imprisonment.

Additionally, Ghosh expressed grave concerns regarding law and order in the state. He accused the West Bengal government of allowing large-scale infiltration, ongoing gold smuggling, and rampant cattle trafficking. He noted that mafia activities have surged, making law and order a persistent issue.

Ghosh claimed that local opposition delayed highway construction projects, illustrating how development efforts are often obstructed in the state.

He raised questions about security arrangements, stating that ministers and officials in Bengal do not receive adequate protection. Even central officials have to rely on the BSF and CISF for their safety.

It is noteworthy that the West Bengal Assembly elections will occur in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for April 23, covering 152 seats, while the second phase will take place on April 29, covering 142 seats. The Election Commission announced this schedule on March 15, with vote counting set for May 4.
