
Mumbai, April 3: In a significant operation, police in Dombivli, located near Mumbai, have uncovered a large cache of illegal weapons and counterfeit currency. The raid led to the arrest of a notorious criminal.
Acting on a tip-off, the Thane Crime Branch’s Kalyan Unit-3 conducted a search in the Dawdi area of Dombivli East, apprehending 55-year-old Surendra Pandurang Patil. A substantial stash of weapons was discovered hidden in a secret location within his residence.
According to police reports, the weapons were concealed on the fifth floor of the building, behind a slipper stand in the terrace area, accessible via the lift duct.
The recovered arsenal includes three country-made pistols, one revolver, seven country-made shotguns, 405 live cartridges, 167 pellets, two swords, three machetes, a knife, and an iron rod. Additionally, counterfeit currency amounting to ₹3,52,000 was seized.
In total, the police have confiscated goods valued at ₹12,21,000. The accused has a history of multiple criminal cases against him. Authorities are currently investigating the intended use of these weapons and whether others are involved in this case.
In another development, the Thane Crime Branch Unit-3 arrested a man posing as a social media star who defrauded people. Surendra Patil was found in possession of weapons and counterfeit notes amounting to ₹3 lakh. He already has 12 cases registered against him for fraud.
Reports indicate that the accused had been using his online persona to deceive individuals.
