Last Chance to Apply for Principal and Vice-Principal Positions in UPSC Recruitment

New Delhi, August 10: A golden opportunity has emerged for youth preparing for government jobs in the education sector. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced vacancies for a total of 828 positions for Principal and Vice-Principal in the Delhi government’s education department.

The deadline for applying for these positions is fast approaching. Interested candidates can submit their applications until August 14.

The vacancies include 124 positions for Principal and 704 for Vice-Principal. Among the 124 Principal positions, there are 69 unreserved, 11 for EWS, 18 for OBC, 16 for SC, and 10 for ST. This includes 72 positions for men and 52 for women. For the 704 Vice-Principal positions, there are 287 unreserved, 71 for EWS, 189 for OBC, 103 for SC, and 54 for ST, with 364 positions for men and 340 for women.

The online application process started on July 25, and the final date to apply is set for August 14. Candidates wishing to be appointed as Principal or Vice-Principal can successfully submit their registration forms on the UPSC official website by 6 PM on the deadline date.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Master’s degree from a recognized institution or university. Additionally, candidates applying for the Principal position must have ten years of teaching experience at a recognized high school, higher secondary school, senior secondary school, or intermediate college as a Vice-Principal, Post Graduate Teacher, or Trained Graduate Teacher. For the Vice-Principal position, candidates should have two years of experience as a Post Graduate Teacher or three years as a Trained Graduate Teacher.

Eligible candidates will be selected through a direct recruitment campaign based on a pen-and-paper-based Combined Recruitment Test (CRT), shortlisting, and interviews. Selected candidates for the Principal position will receive a salary according to Pay Matrix Level 12 of the 7th CPC, while those chosen for the Vice-Principal position will receive a salary according to Pay Matrix Level 10.

The maximum age limit for the Principal position is set at 50 years, while for the Vice-Principal position, it is 35 years, calculated based on the application deadline. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per rules. However, no candidate should be older than 56 years.

While filling out the form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹25 for General/OBC/EWS categories. SC/ST/PWD and female candidates are exempt from the registration fee.
